Miss Geetha Thurairajan

Specialist interests: Cataract surgery; botulinum toxin for strabismus; double vision; squint surgery.

Miss Geetha Thurairajan is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital. She was appointed in the year 2000 and her private practice is at Spire South Bank Hospital. She qualified from the University of Birmingham in 1990 and later completed her speciality training in Ophthalmology at the Birmingham and Midlands Eye Centre and the West Midlands Speciality Training Scheme. She then obtained advanced sub-speciality training in Paediatric ophthalmology and Strabismus based at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Miss Thurairajan performs small incision cataract surgery and is a member of the UK and Ireland Society of Corneal and Refractive Surgeons. Miss Thurairajan’s expertise lies in the management of childhood visual problems and eye disease. She is experienced in the surgical management of childhood and adult squints and double vision. This includes the use of Botulinum Toxin and adjustable suture surgical techniques.

Miss Thurairajan is secretary to the Midland Ophthalmological Society. She organises the Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Society of the Midlands (POSSOM). The POSSOM group is also involved in regional collaborative research projects in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.
